How to Hang Art

When hanging a painting, the general rule of thumb is to hang it at an eye level height. This means that the centre of the painting should be about 57 inches (about 145 cm) from the floor. This is considered to be the most visually comfortable height for most people.

However, it's important to keep in mind that this is just a guideline and the actual height at which you hang a painting will depend on the specific room and space in which it's being hung, as well as the size and style of the painting.

If you're hanging a painting above a piece of furniture, such as a sofa or a mantel, it's best to hang it about 6-12 inches above the top of the piece of furniture. This will create a cohesive look and will keep the painting from looking too low.

If you're hanging a painting in a room with high ceilings, you may want to hang it a bit higher to make it more proportional to the space.

Ultimately, the most important thing is to hang the painting at a height that feels visually comfortable to you. It's a good idea to step back and look at the painting from different angles and different distances to ensure that it looks good from all perspectives.
